Our vigilant spy photographers caught the new Volvo XC40 on the move in Granada, Spain, earlier this week, and now we have the video to go with it.
Joining the new XC60 and the larger XC90, Volvo’s smallest SUV will challenge the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3, and BMW X1.
On the outside, it’s expected to look similar to its larger siblings and adopt an almost identical front end with the brand’s signature grille and the ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlights, which remain carefully tucked away behind the plastic cladding and vinyl stickers.
The interior sports a layout that mimics the XC60 and XC90, albeit on a smaller scale, with a simplified design and an infotainment system taking center stage in the middle of the dashboard, as it was revealed last month, in another batch of spy shots.
The engine options will most likely include a turbocharhed 1.5-liter three-cylinder, along with the usual lineup of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel units, and might be joined by a hybrid in the future.
It’s unknown yet when the Swedish automaker will drop the veils off their premium compact SUV, but the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show this fall seems like a good bet.
