While being overly aggressive during a race can prove to be an advantage, there are times when it all ends up in tears. Like this one, for example.
The incident occurred during a VLN Endurance Championship race at the Nurburgring and, as far as we can tell, it became unavoidable once the driver of the Cayman decided to make a move on the inside.
The BMW driver simply stuck to the racing line, so it’s not as if he cut the Porsche off. Still, the two cars made contact and, as a result, hit the safety barrier and sustained heavy damage.
One question worth asking is whether or not the driver of the Cayman could have actually made the turn, even if the BMW had opened the door. We’ll never know, but hopefully, both drivers escaped the clash without any injuries.
