Roush has taken the wraps off the 2017 P-51 Mustang.
Billed as the company’s most powerful model to date, the P-51 has been equipped with a new front fascia, a carbon fiber front splitter, and a ram air hood.
Moving further back, we can see aerodynamic side skirts, extended side scoops, and 19-inch Weld Racing wheels shod in Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires. Other highlights include a carbon fiber rear spoiler, matte green graphics, and an active exhaust system which can be customized using a mobile app.
The interior comes nicely equipped with Amaretto Tuscany leather seats which draw inspiration from World War II bomber jackets. Drivers will also find a red ball shifter, billet pedals, and an individually-numbered plaque. The model also has a revised instrument cluster, special floor mats, and illuminated door sill plates.
Power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that has been outfitted with a 2.3-liter Eaton TVS supercharger. This enables the engine to produce an impressive 727 hp (542 kW) and 610 lb-ft (826 Nm) of torque. It can be connected to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Production will be limited to 51 units and pricing starts at $42,500 excluding the cost of the Mustang GT. That means buyers are looking a $70,000+ muscle car but, on the bright side, the P-51 Mustang comes with a three year / 36,000 mile (57,936 km) warranty.
