Honda dealers across the United States are understandably excited for deliveries of the 2018 Civic Type R to have commenced, so much so that one employee at a dealership in Chantilly, Virginia, took the car out for a little test drive.
It is difficult to know if the Type R in question is a customer-ordered example or if it is currently being used as a demo car by the dealership. Whatever the case may be, the driver wasn’t afraid to see what it was capable of around the roads near the showroom, aggressively rowing it through the gears and exploring what the turbocharged four-pot can do.
This engine, a development of the powertrain used by the 2016 FK2 Civic Type R, puts out 316 hp in European spec and 306 hp in the United States. That is less than what the Ford Focus RS and Volkswagen Golf R muster up, but is still enough to make the Japanese bruiser an incredibly enjoyable car to drive.
Here’s hoping that the Civic in this video doesn’t belong to a customer who coughed up a hefty premium and that it will instead by used simply for test drives and ultimately sold as a demo.
