VW is broadcasting the global premiere of the all-new Polo supermini, which enters its sixth generation after a successful career of 42 years.
The German brand’s new-gen Polo will be based on the MQB A0 platform, shared with the Seat Ibiza and the upcoming Skoda Fabia.
That means that the new Polo will be longer and wider, offering more space inside for people and their stuff. The cabin will also feature the latest infotainment system and an optional digital instrument display.
Thanks to a major leak last March, there isn’t much left to say about the design; VW clearly opted to lightly evolve the mini-Golf looks of the Polo instead of reinventing it completely, but that was always the case with the German supermini.
The available engine range is expected to include the three-cylinder 1.0-litre TSI in various states of tune, along with the four-cylinder 1.5-litre TSI. The range-topping GTI version is likely to get the 2.0-litre petrol engine of the previous generation of the Golf GTI.
VW will start broadcasting the reveal event at 05.00am EDT / 09.00am GMT. Watch the global premiere of the new VW Polo on the video after the jump.
