Go-karts are largely seen as a kid’s toy but thrill seekers looking for a new adventure might want to check out the Daymak C5 Blast Ultimate which is being billed as the world’s fastest go-kart.
Costing a hair under $60,000, the C5 Blast Ultimate has a 2400 watt-hour lithium battery that powers a 48-volt brushless DC motor. That sounds pretty tame until you learn the go-kart is also equipped with 12 Electric Ducted Fan (EDF) motors which are each powered by a 5000mAH battery.
This setup reportedly enables the go-kart to rocket from 0-60 mph in just 1.5 seconds. When things get scary, and they undoubtedly will, drivers can count on the go-kart’s hydraulic rear disc brakes to bring the action to a halt.
People who might find that too much can try the less extreme, and much cheaper, C5 Blast Standard. It costs $9,999 and eschews the aforementioned EDF motors. As a result, the go-kart is a tad slower, as the dash from 0-60 mph takes 3.9 seconds.
Both go-karts are apparently still prototypes and it remains unclear when they will become available.
