Authorities in Los Angeles have arrested 109 people for participating in a street racing event at a Castaic industrial complex.
In a news release, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that the area turns into an illegal street racing venue late at night and that seven individual drivers were booked and their vehicles towed at the event. A further 102 people were arrested for spectating.
According to the police, “It isn’t just the reckless driving or racing that is illegal, as the onlookers discovered. A momentary loss of control, which can happen all too easily, can have devastating consequences for both the drivers and spectators.”
Images from the scene show dozens of police vehicles converging on the event. The sting was part of a joint operation between the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, KTLA5 reports.
