BMW may be in the middle of developing both CS and GTS-branded variants of the M2, but it hasn’t forgotten about the M3 and is preparing to release a CS version of it in 2018.
Bimmer Today claims that the new M3 CS will share most of its components with the stunning M4 CS, including its sibling’s upgraded twin-turbo six-cylinder with 454 hp. When fitted into the M3 CS, the sedan will become the most powerful M3 ever produced, eclipsing the 444 hp E92 M3 GTS.
Like the M4 CS, the lightened and more driver-focused M3 will adopt a carbon fiber front lip, the hood of the M4 GTS, a carbon spoiler at the rear and a new diffuser. The OLED taillights will also be carried over to the sedan alternative.
At this stage, it is reported that the M3 CS will hit the market in the spring of 2018 and act as the swansong for the F80-generation M3.
