Acura is promoting the 2018 TLX A-Spec by hosting the “world’s first live augmented reality driving experience.”
Set to occur later today, the event will be hosted actor Bradley Hasemeyer and race car driver Ryan Eversley. It will pit four “technology influencers” – Zachary Levi, Sam Gorski, Dom Esposito, and Maude Garrett – against one another as they try to set the fastest overall time over the course of three different laps.
According to Acura, “Each lap will trigger a new AR course visible to the driver and the Facebook Live audience, with a unique set of visuals and obstacles that will task the Acura TLX A-Spec’s precise handling to overcome.”
Viewers will be given a close up of the racing action as cameras will be mounted to each driver’s helmet as well as throughout the course. Viewers can also help their favorite driver by using reaction emojis to reveal shortcuts and remove obstacles from the course.
The “What A Race” event kicks off at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT and fans can check out the action on Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube.
The 2018 TLX A-Spec is currently on sale and the model features a unique front fascia, aggressive side skirts, and a rear diffuser. The car also boasts LED fog lights, a gloss black rear spoiler, and 19-inch alloy wheels with a dark finish.
Since the model was designed to appeal to enthusiasts, engineers installed a sport-tuned suspension and a retuned electric power steering system which delivers sharper and more precise handling.
