Alpina has just released an intriguing teaser image previewing its upcoming D5 S performance sedan.
The D5 S will essentially be a tricked-out BMW 5-Series diesel but equipped with all the performance gains and trimmings which Alpina is synonymous for. The teaser itself shows off the blue gauge cluster of the car featuring a speedometer stretching to 330 km/h and a 5,500 rpm redline.
According to sources, the D5 S will receive sports suspension from Alpina, new 20-inch forged wheels, Active Steering, all-wheel drive as standard and P Zero tires specially developed by Pirelli.
Beneath the skin, the left-hand drive D5 S offered in sedan and touring guises will deliver 382 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque from its 3.0-liter diesel straight-six engine, allowing it to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in a brisk 4.4 seconds and a 177 mph (286 km/h) top speed.
As for the right-hand drive model, available solely as a sedan, its 3.0-liter straight-six will be capped at 321 hp and 516 lb-ft.
