With the launch of the R NineT, BMW didn’t just launch a single motorcycle – it opened up a whole world of possibilities for customization.
Now the German automaker is taking things even further with the launch of BMW Motorrad Spezial, which you could call the Individual program for bikes.
Muscling in on the territory eagerly occupied by aftermarket customizers, the manufacturer’s new program allows for a wide range of modifications to be carried out straight from the factory.
The Spezial initiative kicks off next month with the Touring and Heritage versions of the R NineT. And though the exact details of the range of accessories and options to be offered have yet to be outlined, you can check out some of the possibilities in the extensive image gallery below – and bet that they’ll be both extensive and tasteful.
Buyers will be able to order the parts installed at the factory for delivery as a complete finished product, or order parts after the fact in the usual way. There will even be a new online configuration utility to visualize how a bike ordered with the given components will look, and is sure to be a good time-waster for cafe-racer enthusiasts.
