The owners of many exotics choose to lock up their prized investments in pristine garages, throw away the keys and let them sit for years and gain value. The owner of this exceptionally rare Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster isn’t like that.
There are just six examples of the CLK GTR Roadster in existence and in this writer’s opinion, it makes the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari seem tame and docile, even though they are faster.
Unlike all modern hypercars that have been built as road cars that can be taken to the track, the CLK GTR was built purely for homologation reasons to allow the race car to compete in the FIA GT Championship.
Powering the true race car for the road is a 6.9-liter AMG V12 engine delivering 604 hp and 775 Nm of torque. That is enough to send the exotic to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds and as this owner shows, more than enough to excite any enthusiast.
