When it comes to even the most fundamental understanding of automobiles, the concept of pouring engine oil into the engine is typically regarded as a self-evident truth. One might think, “Well, that’s just common sense,” and for most car enthusiasts, it is.
Well, apparently not for a Mini owner in Germany who, when alerted to her car’s low windshield washer fluid, had an epiphany: why not pour a generous 5 liters of washer fluid directly into the engine?
Not surprisingly, the woman soon noticed her Mini hatch producing majestic plumes of blue smoke from its exhaust and promptly rushed it to a local mechanic. That’s when the grand revelation took place.
As soon as the bewildered mechanics cracked open the Mini’s four-pot engine, they were met with a sight to behold. A thick, frothy sludge had taken over the entire engine, and upon further investigation, they found that much of the engine block and sump were submerged in this delightful goo.
Now, while the images shared on Facebook by a BMW Club in France do not provide the aftermath of this automotive saga, we can only speculate that the owner was left with two pocket-enticing options: either bid farewell to the car and embrace a new one or embark on the thrilling adventure of shelling out for a brand-new engine.
