If you’ve ever found yourself enjoying a nice cocktail only to think ‘Hmm, this would probably taste better with a hint of a Harley Davidson motorcycle engine,’ you’re in luck as Ehinger Kraftrad has created the “world’s first premium dry gin to contain Harley Davidson engine parts.”
Sounding like a more expensive and insane version of Whole Food’s asparagus water, the beverage is called The Archaeologist and comes in bottles that contain parts such as 1939 Flathead camshafts, 1947 Knucklehead screw-nuts, and 1962 Panhead rocker arms.
Drinkers who fear a metallic taste needn’t worry as Ehinger says all the components are specially cleansed and then sealed in a “tin alloy to make it safe for them to be utilized in a drink.” The parts are then soldered onto a steel structure and encased in a handcrafted bottle.
The bottles each come with a hand-stamped, tamper-proof seal as well as tags that bear the serial number of the engine part included in the gin. Buyers will also receive a custom box which was created on a 1931 Heidelberg Tiegel printing press and a waxed paper wrapping that tells more about the part and the motorcycle it came from.
The company sold out of its first batch “within hours” and is now accepting orders for the next series which apparently starts at €900 ($1,048).
