Want to know which are the best-designed cars and trucks on the market? Look no further than the Red Dot awards. Every year, the ultimate arbiters of design name their favorites in a wide array of categories, and automobiles are among them.
The jury released its Best of the Best winners for 2017 a few months ago, including the Ferrari J50, Mazda MX-5 RF, Kia Optima Sportswagon, and Audi Q2. Now they’ve released the full list.
In addition to the aforementioned, Red Dot awards were handed this year to the BMW 5-Series, Citroën C3, Genesis G80 Sport, Hyundai Azera/Grandeur, Kia Rio, Peugeot 3008, Seat Ibiza, Skoda Kodiaq and Octavia Combi, Volvo V90, and Ferrari 458 MM Speciale, GTC4 Lusso, and LaFerrari Aperta.
On top of those, Honorable Mentions went to the Hyundai i30, Kia Niro, and Borgward BX5. And there were a few two-wheelers nominated as well, including the BMW R NineT Racer, Yamaha XSR900, Volta BCN, and the M1 and C-One electric scooters from Jiangsu Niu.
That’s a particularly ringing endorsement of Ferrari, which got four of its supercars on the list, including one named Best of the Best. As a whole, the Hyundai Motor Group got five on the list, nabbing one Best, three Dots and an Honorable Mention.
