Once upon a time, anything Hennessey Performance created would blow the collective minds of everyone on the internet.
Nowadays, it has become so common for the Texas tuner to work its magic on all manner of performance cars and achieve ridiculous power figures, that’s it’s no longer surprising. Even still, it is hard to argue that its Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat power upgrade isn’t seriously impressive.
Dubbed HPE1000, the package has been designed to lift power from the Hellcat’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine to 1,000 hp at the crank, or about 863 hp at the rear wheels like this example.
While the Hennessey-tuned Hellcat can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.7 seconds and run down the quarter mile in 9.9 seconds, it is not just the performance that is impressive, it is the way this thing sounds. At full throttle, the bellowing tone of the V8 is met with the howl of the supercharger to create a cacophony that would get the attention of even the most discerned supercar enthusiast.
