After launching the new GL8 at the end of 2016, Buick is now getting ready to introduce yet another minivan to the Chinese market, called the GL6.

Teased by the brand’s local arm, it will go on sale later this year, with a 2+2+2 seating layout, and an “assertive exterior, flexible interior, broad range of safety and infotainment features, and efficient power”, according to the automaker.

“Buick has been enhancing its presence in the upper-medium MPV segment with the introduction of the new-generation GL8 Avenir, GL8 ES and all-new GL8 25S over the past year,” said Jean Liu-Barnocki, general director of Buick China. “The GL6, which goes on sale later this year, will complement those products and offer another choice for Chinese families.”

Nothing else is known about the company’s new multi-purpose vehicle yet, but it’s looking to build on the success of the GL8, which made Buick a leader in the market by selling in 91,456 units in the first eight months of the year, thus giving it more than 30 percent of its segment.
