The Caterham 620R has 311 hp, hilariously thin carbon fiber racing seats and no windscreen or roof. Despite that, Car Throttle set out to discover if it can be driven on a daily basis.
Powering the 620R is a 2.0-liter supercharged four-cylinder engine mated to a sequential transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. In perfect conditions, it can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in a blistering 2.79 seconds and a 155 mph (250 km/h) top speed.
Oh, it also weighs a mere 572 kg (1,261 lbs) and has a power-to-weight ratio of 620 hp per tonne, hence the name.
However, exceptional performance doesn’t always mean great driveability and the 620R is about as impractical as a motorcycle.
Nevertheless, we’d probably own one if we had the spare money.
