Kreisel Electric has teamed up with Arnold Schwarzenegger to unveil the world’s first electric Hummer H1.
Presented at the opening of the company’s new research and development center in Austria, the electric H1 was created in just two months and features a 100 kWh battery pack. The battery powers two electric motors which give the model all-wheel drive as well as a combined out output of 490 PS (360 kW). This enables the 3,300 kg (7,275 lbs) off-roader to have a range of approximately 300 km (186 miles) and a top speed of up to 120 km/h (74 mph).
Kreisel Electric co-founder Markus Kreisel said the company will “certainly not mass-produce these models” but the H1 is a “powerhouse in wolf’s clothing” that “drives so quietly even the sheep are not disturbed.”
Schwarzenegger was certainly excited as he remarked “Kreisel Electric electrified my G-class last winter. And now a Hummer. If Kreisel keeps it up at this pace, I will soon be able to fly here from L.A. in an electric airplane.”
Besides unveiling the electric H1, Kreisel opened its new development and manufacturing center which spans 75,347 square feet. The facility includes a prototype workshop as well as a completely automated manufacturing line for battery storage devices.
