The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible is one of the most ridiculous cars built by GM in recent years. Now, Hennessey Performance has taken it to the stratosphere.
In April, the tuning company released ‘The Exorcist’, its ZL1-based rival to the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. The comprehensive upgrades enjoyed by The Exorcist coupe have now found their way into the ZL1 Convertible, making for an insane 1,000 hp drop-top with one of the nicest sounding V8s on the planet.
In order to increase grunt from 650 hp to 1,000 hp, Hennessey fits a larger supercharger with 14 psi of boost pressure, upgraded camshafts, ported factory cylinder heads, long-tube stainless steel headers, custom engine management and a high-flow air induction system.
In hardtop form, The Exorcist hits 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 3 seconds with drag radials before storming down the quarter mile in fewer than 10 seconds. Similar times can be expected for the convertible.
With a Challenger Demon Convertible an impossibility, The Exorcist is in a league of its own and will remain like that. Pricing has yet to be announced.
