If you’re going to drop a brand name in your new song, going with Rolls-Royce will only help cement their place as pop music’s no.1 brand over the past three years.
According to this recent Bloomberg study, Rolls-Royce has edged out Ferrari, Hennessy, Porsche and multiple others in terms of top-20 songs that have mentioned brands by name in the past three years.
In order to get their stats right, Bloomberg went through the lyrics of each song that made it into the top 20 (Billboard Hot 100) starting with May 2014 and up until May 2017. Since multiple mentions of the same brand weren’t included, Rolls-Royce ended up with 11 total mentions.
In second place stood Ferrari with 9 mentions, followed by Hennessy and Porsche both with 7, Chevy and Lamborghini both with 6, and then Bentley, Cadillac, Jordan Brand, Mercedes, Rolex and Xanax, all with 5 mentions.
In those 11 songs, Rolls-Royce was mentioned by artists such as Future, The Weeknd, Drake and Kodak Black.
“We make no judgments. We want to be connected to success,” stated Rolls-Royce spokesman Gerry Spahn, while adding that when somebody uses one of their cars as a symbol for luxury, it always ends up helping the brand.
