Opulence on wheels or a gorgeous land yacht – what’s your take on the stunning Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet concept car?

Before answering our question, let’s see what makes this study so unique – a generous grille, slim headlights, long bonnet, short windscreen, ‘boat tail’ rear end that’s inspired by luxury yachts, and massive 24-inch rims with center locking.

At 5,700mm long, 2,100mm wide and 1,340mm tall, Maybach’s 6 concept is an impressively large convertible, as it’s 670mm longer, 201mm wider albeit 70mm lower than the already massive S-Class Cabriolet.

Despite combining both a classic and modern styling on the outside, the Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet’s cabin is very high-tech, featuring biometric sensors that monitor the status of those inside, flowing display strip on the dashboard, and two head-up displays.

And since this is a Maybach after all, Daimler’s luxury brand went crazy and installed wood flooring with inlaid aluminum accents, crystal white Nappa leather, and blue fiber optics, which bring its cockpit to life at night.

Unless you’re familiar with this study that debuted last month at Pebble Beach, you’re probably expecting at least a V12 under the hood, pumping a massive output to the wheels. But you’ll be half wrong, or half right, depending on how you see it, because it features four electric motors that work together to deliver 750PS (739hp).

For a boat on wheels, the Maybach 6 Convertible is very agile indeed, as it needs less than 4 seconds to go from rest to 100km/h (62mph), and it will keep sprinting up to a top speed electronically capped at 250km/h (155mph).

This is a concept that’s definitely worth checking out live, and to do so you’ll have to visit the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, where it remains on display until September 24.
