Land Rover has been relatively quiet about its plans for the Frankfurt Motor Show, but that changes today as the first pictures of the Discovery SVX have been posted by our friends over at Wheelsage.
Created by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, the Discovery SVX is a hardcore off-roader that will feature a V8 engine. There’s no word on specifications and it remains unclear if the engine is a petrol or diesel unit. If it is the latter, it could be the Range Rover’s 4.4-liter SDV8 Diesel which develops 339 hp (252 kW). Of course, there’s also the possibility that its a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with over 500 hp (372 kW).
Regardless of what’s under the hood, the model has an aggressive front skid plate, rock rails, and five-spoke alloy wheels with off-road tires. The styling changes don’t stop there as designers installed an LED light bar and a new front bumper with larger air intakes.
The aggressive styling continues at the rear as the Discovery SVX has been equipped with a rugged bumper and a dual exhaust system. We can also see a winch and two recovery hooks.
Full details will be released tomorrow, but it appears the cabin will receive some unique interior appointments. Changes include two-tone seats with SVX badging and “X” upholstery on the lower backrests.
Thanks to Niko for the tip!
