PSA’s next all-electric model will be based on the next generation Peugeot 208 supermini, set to be revealed at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
The new electric French supermini model will offer a long-enough driving range to compete with models like the Renault Zoe and the Chevrolet Bolt, when it goes on sale in the second half of 2019, Autocar reports.
PSA’s EV strategy also includes the launch of the electric Citroen Berlingo Multispace and Peugeot Partner models in the second half of 2018. More importantly Peugeot is set to launch the plug-in hybrid version of the 5008 SUV at the end of this year.
PSA is known for developing a plug-in hybrid powertrain that includes a rear-mounted electric motor, making the 5008 (and the 3008 that will follow) essentially all-wheel driven with a reported electric range of up to 31 miles (50km).
The same PHEV technology will eventually find its way into other SUVs of the Group, including the C5 Aircross which is expected in the second half of 2018.
