Nissan has just built its 150 millionth vehicle, a truly staggering achievement from the Japanese automaker.
The brand was founded in 1933 and it took until 1990 for its total vehicle production figures to reach 50 million. From there, production climbed aggressively until the 100 millionth Nissan rolled off the production line in 2006. It has then taken just 11 years to build the last 50 million.
Unsurprisingly, Japan is the highest producer of Nissan vehicles, accounting for 58.9 per cent (88.35 million) of all Nissan vehicles built. The next most prolific producer of Nissans is the U.S. with 10.8 per cent, China (7.9 per cent), Mexico (7.9 per cent), UK (6.2 per cent), Others (5.8 per cent) and Spain (2.4 per cent).
The best-selling car ever fitted with a Nissan badge is the Sunny, also dubbed the Sentra, Pulsar and Almera in different countries. Over 15.9 million have been sold.
