Porsche was spotted working on the upcoming GTS version of the 718 Cayman at the Nurburgring.

The new member of the 718 family will distinguish itself visually from its lesser brothers with a new bumper design that features different air intakes, a more prominent chin spoiler as well as a set of different wheels.

Porsche’s regular GTS recipe will be applied to the chassis too, with stiffer suspension and a new exhaust system that finally provides a good soundtrack, according to our spies. The turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four engine is expected to also provide an extra 25 to 30 horses for a total of around 375 to 380hp.

Porsche will also offer a 718 Boxster GTS as well, widening the range of its mid-engine sports cars. Both manual and PDK dual-clutch transmissions will be available, turning the 718 Cayman GTS into the pick of the range when it finally hits the market.

That is of course until the arrival of the new GT4 version, which reportedly will retain its naturally aspirated flat-six engine and come packed with select goodies from the 911 GT3. Expect Porsche to reveal the new 718 Cayman and Boxster GTS later this fall.
