We’re not looking at trademarks or leaks just yet, but at the four finalist names that have been chosen by Seat to be used on their upcoming flagship SUV.

Announced during the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show by the brand’s head honcho, Luca de Meo, these are: Alboran, Aranda, Avila, and Tarraco, and they come from the westernmost portion of the Mediterranean Sea, two cities in the region of Castile and Leon, and the name of a former Roman city, respectively.

“Alboran, Aranda, Avila, and Tarraco meet all the necessary requirements for becoming another one of Seat’s emblems“, Luca de Meo said. “The project has been a clear success and we would again like to thank all of the more than 133,000 fans in 106 countries who collaborated on the initiative. All that remains now is the final stage, and we encourage everyone to participate in the vote.”

The name of Seat’s new SUV will be announced on October 15, and it will join 13 other vehicles in the company’s lineup, whose names were taken from the Spanish geography.

Details surrounding the SUV are still scarce, but from previous sources we know that it will be assembled at the Volkswagen plant, in Wolfsburg. It will be larger than the Ateca, and it’s expected to be offered in two configurations – 5 and 7 seats, underpinned by the MQB A2 platform.
