A key reason why The Grand Tour got its name is because the studio tent travels around the world with Clarkson, Hammond and May. However, season 2 could see the departure of this format, a Drive Tribe writer says.
The Oxford Times reports that plans have been made to construct a mobile film studio in the small UK town of Great Tew in the Cotswold Hills. What’s interesting is that the studio comes courtesy of Chump Productions, the production company which the three presenters own alongside former Top Gear producer Andy Wilman.
Ordinarily, this could simply mean this is the latest location where the studio tent will travel to. However, the plan is to have the studio on site for 13 weeks, just the right amount of time for the 12-episode second season of The Grand Tour.
Further details show that filming will take place at the location once a week over two five-week periods, the perfect schedule to knock out 10 standard episodes and two extra weeks for a double-episode adventure.
Whatever the case may be, we’ll all find out soon enough when the second season drops in October.
