An unrestored Plymouth Hemi Superbird from 1970 is heading back to auction in mid-November in Las Vegas.
The recognizable muscle car first landed on our radar in December 2016 when Mecum prepared it for auction in January this year. Despite expectations that it could sell for up to $450,000, the car never found a new owner. It’s hoped that they’ll be more interest in the car the second time around.
Despite its age, the Superbird retains all of its original Tor Red paint with the exception of its nose cone. Elsewhere, it retains the original dual quad 426 Hemi engine and 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission. Even the original black vinyl interior has been retained and it looks remarkably clean. It almost looks new, in fact.
The car will be sold with all its original documentation and that includes the factory invoice that stretches across two pages because of all the car’s options, including its power windows, 15-inch Rallye wheels and deluxe seatbelts.
