Looking for a way to mark the passing of a hundred years of Chevy trucks? You can pick up a special edition of either the Colorado or Silverado, or even a matching watercraft from Phoenix Bass Boats, if that’s your thing.
If you were hoping, however, for something smaller – say, something that’d fit on your wrist – the Detroit Watch Company can help.
The Michigan-based timekeeper has come out with a special wristwatch to mark the Bowtie brand’s centennial year in the truck business. It packs an automatic 26-jewel movement sourced from Eta of Switzerland, a 42-hour power reserve, and date window in a 42-millimeter polished steel case.
The face is blue to match those special-edition pickups, and it’s affixed with a black calf leather strap, top-stitched to match in blue and secured with a deployment clasp.
Only 100 examples will be made, each priced at $1,250. That’s actually less expensive than most of DWC’s high-end timepieces, which strike us as a little incongruous with the working-man image of Chevy trucks. But with pickups (like the $50k Silverado High Country) going further up-market all the time, maybe the time for a thousand-dollar Chevy watch has come… even if most of them end up being snapped up by GM executives.
