The 944 has been often referred to as the ‘poor man’s Porsche 911’, but there’s nothing cheap about this example.
In fact, it’s expected to sell for £22,000-£26,000 ($29,057-$34,340) at the SilverstoneAuctions event in Birmingham, on November 11, helped by what the auction house calls a “911 explosion” that saw its value rise.
Built to the S2 specification in 1990 to replace the standard and ‘S’ models, it uses a 3.0-liter four-cylinder engine that allowed it to achieve a 0-60mph (96km/h) sprint time of 6.0 seconds, back when it was still new, and a top speed of almost 150mph (241km/h).
Despite being made some 27 years ago, this Porsche 944 S2 Coupe still looks like it just rolled off the assembly line, and that’s because it has been properly maintained and pampered. Proof stands its extensive history file that includes many MoT certificates and invoices, which also backs up its current mileage: 89,000 (143,232km), said to be verifiable.
Small details such as the two sets of keys, factory stickers that are still in place, and original tool kit, should help it find a new and caring owner easier.
