Seat will delay the announcement of their new SUV’s name due to the ongoing political crisis over Catalonia.

The Spanish automaker, who had to halt production at its Martorell plant after parts supplies were disrupted by protests, said that it will now disclose the name of the car at a later date. Alboran, Aranda, Avila and Tarraco remain the four candidates.

“With the entire Spanish media focused on politics at the moment, we have decided to find a better time,” said a Seat spokesman, who also stated that Seat delayed a separate announcement regarding innovation and digitization.

Despite this delay, Autonews reports that selling and building the new SUV, which is due to be built at VW’s Wolfsburg plant in Germany, will not be affected, much like the presentation of the new Arona to the international trade press in Barcelona, which is proceeding as planned.

Seat returned to profit last year for the first time in about a decade, with strong sales by the Ateca SUV spearheading the financial progress. This new third SUV should also play a key role in the automaker’s strategy moving forward.
