Having the right car on the right place at the right moment is the only way to describe the story of Kurht Gerhardt and his pair of air-cooled 911Ts.
After owning an Italian vintage sports car, Kurht decided to opt for something more reliable and easier to maintain. “I wanted something that was efficient, and that ran right, and that I could get into and just drive,” he says in the latest Petrolicious film.
He then bought a pair of early Porsche 911s and never looked back since. The 911 T is the most stripped-down model of the 901 range, aside from the incredibly rare R version, and therefore is considered as the purest of the family.
Kurht also finds it to be as fast as he needs it to be, when he takes it for a drive on early Sunday mornings. “One of my favorite things to do is to get up at like six, seven o’clock in the morning on a Sunday,” he says.
With the streets empty and the majestic light only a dawn can provide Kurht experiences his lovely 911 T to the maximum but this is only the beginning: he plans to take his Porsche on the Peking to Paris rally, a 8,500-mile long adventure to fulfill his dream.
