In an attempt to make buying and selling vehicles online more efficient, Facebook will be updating its Marketplace platform to include dealership inventories and even direct contact.
The social media giant has teamed up with the likes of Edmunds, Cars.com, Auction123, CDK Global and SOCIALDEALER in order to boost inventory listings.
It will also add more specific search functions, where you’ll be able to filter listings by year, make, model, mileage, vehicle type and transmission. Last but not least, you’ll be able to see “trusted car values” taken directly from Kelley Blue Book.
Once you’ve settled on a model, or if you have any questions, you can simply approach dealership representatives via Facebook Messenger, and set up a test drive at your convenience.
“Autos are one of the most popular categories of Marketplace” Facebook product manager Bowen Pan told Techcrunch. “Millions of people in the US alone are looking at used cars, motorbikes, and other vehicle listings every day”.
All these new features will be introduced in the coming weeks and apply only to car shoppers in the U.S.
