In 2005, Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios delivered the first installment of the Forza Motorsport series, a racing sim video game that featured over 200 cars, as well as real and fictional race courses.
That very first game was released on the original Xbox console, whereas Forza Motorsport 2 from 2007 was developed specifically for the Xbox 360, along with a dedicated wireless racing wheel.
This video put together by IGN shows us just how far this title has come in the last 12 years, and especially how the level of detail has improved ever since Forza 5 in 2013, when a major visual leap was taken – that’s when the Xbox One came out.
Of course, Forza 7 is already looking like the best title yet, and if you get the chance to play it on the new Xbox One X, the console’s 8-core 2.3 GHz AMG CPU and 12 GB of graphic memory should really make details pop.
As for what the future holds, we’ve had a fresh Forza title ever two years since 2005, so we can look forward to even bigger and better things from Forza 8 in 2019 and then Forza 9 in 2021. Perhaps the next big step will involve VR technology, so stay tuned.
