The upcoming Lynk & Co 03 sedan has been spied in the midst of testing in Germany looking unchanged from April’s design prototype.
These pictures were snapped by Carscoops reader Nico Hoffman. Interestingly, we’re told that the large contraption on the 03’s decklid is a camera and that the engineer riding shotgun was using a laptop, giving rise to the possibility that the car’s parking assistant programs were being tested out.
Visually, this prototype is covered in black and white camoflage, therefore making it difficult to pinpoint any design differences between it and the design prototype. From what is visible of the front fascia and the eye-catching taillights, it seems apparent that Lynk & Co designers haven’t had to make many modifications.
Like the brand’s first model, the 01, the 03 sedan will be underpinned by Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture. Additionally, it is possible that the 03 will be sold with the same powertrain options as the 01, meaning they’ll be a 1.5-liter turbo’d hybrid and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
Despite already being revealed in pre-production form, the 03 won’t hit the market until early next decade. In fact, even the 01 won’t launch in Europe and the U.S. until mid-2019. It will then be directly followed by a yet-to-be-revealed 02 crossover in 2021.
