While the McLaren 570S is the brand’s most popular entry-level model, it is no slouch. In fact, it is more than quick enough to violently snap your neck back against the head rest.
There are two secrets to the car’s acceleration. First, it is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 with 562 hp fed to the rear wheels courtesy of a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission. Secondly, it has a dry weight of just 2996 lbs (1359 kg), making it significantly lighter than rivals from Porsche and Lamborghini.
However, can these factors actually make the 570S comparable to the monstrous 12C?
To find out, GTBoard pitted the siblings together and discovered that the 570S accelerated at almost exactly the same pace as the brand’s former halo car, despite having 55 hp less.
If you wanted an example of how far McLaren has come in a few years, this is it.
