Nissan Serena e-Power Previewed Before Tokyo Motor Show

Shortly after Nissan unveiled a Nismo variant of the Serena minivan, the Japanese carmaker has revealed a hybrid variant dubbed the Serena e-POWER.

In creating the model, Nissan borrowed technology from the Note e-POWER and the new all-electric Leaf. Consequently, the Serena e-POWER consists of a small gasoline engine that charges the battery, driving the electric motor.

Nissan hasn’t announced specifics for the engine but does say it will offer “above-its-class quietness and excellent fuel efficiency.” Additionally, the Serena e-POWER includes the latest iteration of the firm’s ProPILOT semi-autonomous driving technology.

Visually, the e-POWER can be distinguished from other versions thanks to its aluminum wheels, blue front grille accents and distinctive LED taillights.

Sales of the Serena e-POWER will commence in Japan in the spring of 2018.
