It appears that Peugeot’s plan to take the new 3008, stretch it, throw two extra seats in the back, and sell it as a 5008 hasn’t really payed off, as the car is not exactly the SUV you were searching for.

In fact, CarBuyer found that it basically feels like a big MPV on the road, with a high driving position. This gives an extra advantage to one of its main rivals – the Skoda Kodiaq.

There are quite a few good sides to the new Peugeot 5008, though, such as its versatile interior, which can accommodate seven people, quality materials, and plenty of standard kit. Opt for the more expensive grades, and you will get to enjoy numerous features such as seats with massage function.

Legroom in the second row that has three individual seats is fine, but headroom is tight. You can fit two adults in the third row, but don’t expect to be friends with them after, especially if you plan on taking a long journey.

On the road, the Peugeot 5008 rides better than the 3008, and it levels bumps out quite easily. However, despite its SUV-ish look, you cannot have it with all-wheel drive, though the manufacturer does offer something called Advanced Grip Control to help you in slippery conditions.

So, knowing that the Peugeot 5008 is basically a larger 3008 with no AWD, would you still buy it, or go for something different?
