Jaguar and former Olympic skier Graham Bell teamed up to set a new Guinness World Record for the ‘fastest towed speed on skis’.
After a few practice runs, at JLR’s Arctic Revi Test Center in Arjeplog, Sweden, in temperatures of -28C (-18F), the athlete was eventually pulled to an average top speed of 189km/h (117mph), by the executive estate, thus smashing the old record by over 76km/h (47mph).
“I’m really proud to have achieved this Guinness World Records title, but it was a real team effort with the engineers at Jaguar supporting me every step of the way”, said Bell. “The XF Sportbrake stayed perfectly composed throughout, and gave me the confidence to not only beat the target, but smash it by a great margin.”
The Jaguar XF Sportbrake used by the team is capable of delivering 380PS (375hp) to the instinctive all-wheel drive system, needing just 5.3sec to reach 60mph (96km/h) from a standstill. It also benefits from Adaptive Surface Response and All Surface Progress Control systems, for improved control in low-grip conditions.
