The stock Volkswagen Lupo isn’t any match for a BMW 3-Series, especially in the 335d specification, but this tiny hatch went through some serious revisions.
The only thing visible is a large intercooler, but it appears that the predecessor of the Fox has ditched its original engine for a 2.0-liter TDI, which, in turn was heavily modified to churn out some 500 horses.
Thee owner didn’t stop there, because the Lupo also welcomed a four-wheel drive system, which helps it manage those wild horses running under the bonnet, and an even more impressive torque number that hasn’t been disclosed.
On the other hand, the BMW E92 is the 335d with a 3.0-liter inline-six turbo diesel The stock model has to make do with 265hp, but this one reportedly produces 480hp after some modifications of its own.
Looking at these numbers suggests the Volkswagen Lupo has the upper hand (both in weight and power), but is that enough to beat its Bavarian challenger on the drag strip?
