We all know by now that Subaru just “loves” teasing us with spectacular concepts, only to tone things down by 100 when it’s time to put something into production.
Even though they’ve done it on more than one occasion, we still can’t help but hope that whenever something as aggressive as this concept comes along, it will somehow make it into showrooms with only a few changes here and there.
Unveiled at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, the VIZIV Performance Concept is meant to symbolize Subaru’s driving prowess as well as the automaker’s Symmetrical AWD and Boxer engine setup.
In other word’s it’s Subaru’s idea of a sporty compact sedan, measuring 4,630 mm (182.2 in) in length, 1,950 mm (76.7 in) in width and 1,430 mm (56.3 in) in height. Almost identical to a BMW 3-Series, only wider because of those flared fenders.
Design features include carbon fiber parts in the bumpers, fenders and roof, a three-dimensional front grille, “hawkeye” headlights, a massive diffuser with quad-exhausts and the previously-mentioned fenders which are wider than what you get on a modern-day rally car.
According to the Japanese automaker, the VIZIV Performance Concept is actually inspired by the Legacy, Impreza and the WRX, a sort of “best of all words” when it comes to putting together a sporty sedan.
So, fingers crossed, right?
