It certainly hasn’t pleased all truckers but the Tesla Semi does promise to shake up the industry and beverage company Anheuser-Busch is hedging its bets on the truck.

In a press release, the company announced that it has placed an order on no less than 40 Tesla Semis as part of a long-term goal to decrease its operational carbon footprint by 30 per cent by 2025.

“At Anheuser-Busch, we are constantly seeking new ways to make our supply chain more sustainable, efficient, and innovative. This investment in Tesla semi-trucks helps us achieve these goals while improving road safety and lowering our environmental impact,” senior director of logistics strategy at Anheuser-Busch James Sembrot said.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Anheuser-Busch has thrown its support behind trucks with autonomous capabilities. In fact, an Otto truck carried over 51,000 cans of Budweiser between Ft. Collins, Colorado and Colorado Springs in 2016.

Tesla claims that the Semi will be able to travel 500 miles under highway conditions with a full 80,000 lbs load. It’ll also be capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 20 seconds with a full payload and will hit the 60-mph mark in five seconds without a trailer.
