The BMW M760Li xDrive isn’t the M7 people have been waiting to happen for years, but it is still exceptionally fast. So fast, in fact, that it can actually challenge a Mercedes-AMG S63 in a straight-line.
AutoTopNL recently had the chance to drive the duo side-by-side on the Autobahn and have synced runs of the two luxury super sedans accelerating up to 315 km/h (196 mph).
What makes the range-topping 7-Series such a formidable rival is its twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 that pumps out 592 hp at 5500 rpm and 590 lb-ft of torque at 1500 rpm. Additionally, it features an M-tuned eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.
Surprisingly, the M760Li is not that far behind the mighty S63 AMG that, with 603 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque, clearly has the upper hand when it comes to performance. Even so, throughout most of the run, it’s within 5-10 km/h of its performance-focused foe from Stuttgart. Not bad for something that’s not a true M car.
