The Renault Sport F1 team has confirmed that its 2018 Formula car will premiere on February 20.

Teased via a darkened image published on Twitter, the RS18 will be driven by Carlos Sainz and Nico Hulkenberg during the French manufacturer’s third season back as a fully-fledged factory-backed outfit.

The teaser reveals that the RS18 will have a bright yellow livery, just like the RS17. Additionally, the image provides us with our first chance to see the halo affixed to a 2018 F1 car. Despite the FIA saying teams could fit the halo with small aerodynamic appendages, it doesn’t appear as though Renault has done so.

Many pundits believe 2018 could be a fruitful year for Renault. Late last year, the team managed to sign former FIA F1 technical delegate Marcin Budkowski, much to the displeasure of other teams. Budkowski will officially start work with the team in April and brings with him intimate knowledge of the designs of other cars on the grid.

In a recent interview with Motorsport, Renault F1 managing director Cyril Abiteboul said, “We have a big job to accomplish and as far as I can see we are aligned with that.

“The infrastructure is coming up, people are coming up, the commercial side – I know it is not super exciting, but it is also important to be able to finance that,” he said.

Elsewhere on the grid, both Ferrari and Mercedes will unveil their cars on February 22, McLaren on February 23, Sauber on February 20, and Toro Rosso on February 25.
