Most Italian exotics – Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Paganis, what-have-you – typically do their best to grab your attention and hold it until they’ve sped out of sight. Maseratis tend to adopt a more understated elegance, but not this one.
What we have here is a fifth-generation Quattroporte, specifically a pre-facelifted model (from the looks of it) like the ones made between 2003 and 2008. It’s wearing a typically elegant dark blue coat, which seems to have been resprayed with a purplish hue – but it’s the red details that grab your attention.
The four-door exotic has been fitted with a set of oversized, bright red Forgiato Maglia wheels, measuring 22 inches across (at least up front, from what we can see). The blue rims and hubs match the bodywork (as do the brake calipers), topped by what we could only describe as a thin coating of Lexani rubber to serve as tires.
Inside it’s all bright red leather with blue trim, showing clearly through all that glass. And it looks like it’s been fitted with some bodywork modifications too, like a hood scoop and a subtle roof spoiler. Though the aero kit could certainly be more extroverted, the color combination and rolling stock do plenty to demand your attention.
Slap a Superman or Spider-Man logo on the hood and it looks like it’d be all set for some sort of movie promotion. Which is all well and fine – we’re just not sure it’s befitting of a Maserati. But we suppose this sort of matter-of-taste approach is what the aftermarket is there for.
