In-house Volkswagen estimates indicate that the German manufacturer has beaten out Toyota as the world’s largest automaker in 2017.
Autonews Europe indicates that the Volkswagen Group shifted approximately 10.7 million units last year while revenue rose to an all-time high of over 220 billion euros ($264 billion), slightly above the 217 billion euro ($259 billion) reported in 2016.
A spokesman from VW has declined to comment on the report but the company will publish its official 2017 group sales date on January 17.
Last month, Toyota said it expected to sell roughly 10.35 million vehicles worldwide in 2017.
