Texas is one of the largest markets for pickups in the United States so it comes as little surprise that FCA has used the Dallas Auto Show to introduce the 2019 Ram 1500 Lone Star.
Billed as a “no-compromise” pickup that offers a blend of strength, capability and comfort, the Ram 1500 Lone Star features chrome bumpers and 18-inch aluminum wheels. The model also has fog lights, chrome door handles and a bright grille with billet accents. Customers looking for a more unique appearance can order either the Black or Sport exterior styling packages.
Ram was coy on interior details but confirmed the truck has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 60/40 split rear bench and “Lone Star” badging. Four trim levels will be offered and buyers can choose from either a three-person front bench or two individual front seats.
A variety of different options and packages will be available including an active level air suspension, an electric-locking rear differential and 20-inch aluminum wheels. Customers can also order a premium lighting package, a max towing package and the 4×4 off-road package. The latter item adds special shock absorbers, underbody protection, tow hooks and hill-descent control.
The 2019 Ram 1500 Lone Star will be offered exclusively in Texas and it will be launched with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine that produces 395 hp (291 kW) and 410 lb-ft (556 Nm) of torque. It will eventually be joined by a 3.6-liter V6 engine developing 305 hp (224 kW) and 269 lb-ft (364 Nm) of torque.
The truck will go on sale in the next few months and will be available in Crew and Quad Cab configurations with either rear or four-wheel drive.
