It’s not usual for spy photographers to catch a convey of vehicles but our shooters were extra lucky today as they managed to snap the Toyota Supra as well as the next-generation BMW 3-Series and Z4.
The most interesting of the group is the Z4 prototype which appears to be virtually production ready. Previewed by a concept at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the road-going model has a familiar design but adopts a less aggressive front fascia with a more upright grille. The headlights also echo the concept but the air intakes appear much more conservative.
Continuing further back, we can see the roadster has been outfitted with vents behind the front wheels. The model also has L-shaped taillights, a dual exhaust system and a trunk with an integrated spoiler.
The prototype’s interior was covered by camouflage but previous photos have shown the model will have a three-spoke steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster and a large infotainment system. Drivers can also expect a new center console which mimics the concept.
BMW has been tight-lipped on performance specifications but spy photographers have previously snapped a document which revealed there will be an s20i which is rated at 197 PS (145 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. Rumors have also suggested the model will be offered with a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine that has outputs of approximately 335 PS (246 kW) and 385 PS (283 kW).
The BMW Z4 is expected to go into production in November with deliveries to start early next year.
