BMW has reportedly chosen the 2018 Geneva Motor Show to preview the upcoming M8 Gran Coupe with a design study.
The information comes via BMWBlog, which claims that the four-door sibling of the already confirmed M8 Coupe and M8 Convertible will be unveiled on March 6 and not a day sooner.
Poised to take on the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT4 and Audi RS7 Sportback, the BMW M8 Gran Coupe should use the same powertrain as its two-door siblings, namely the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 from the new M5.
In the latter, the engine is good for 600PS (592hp) and 750Nm (553lb-ft) of torque, but the company’s performance division is believed to tune it to deliver even more power, paired to the company’s 8-speed automatic transmission. This should justify its price tag and position within the executive car segment, not to mention that it could allow it to complete the 0-100km/h (0-62mph) sprint in around 3sec.
Reports indicate that the BMW M8 Coupe will be the first one to arrive in the market. It should debut next year, being followed shortly by the M8 Convertible, whereas the four-door member of the family might arrive in late 2019, or early 2020.
